Kind of a throwback to one of my personal favorites: magnifulouschicken.deviantart.…
Like in the old pic, I used a lot of color...I guess for the background I tried to go more for realism. I don't really know what the squiggles are; I actually drew them first in pen, not sure where I was going with this...then filled in the background (looooooong process, was working on it off and on all week), then filled in the squiggles.
Idk how I feel about the final product. I like it, but I feel like the original had a lot more whimsy. I'll work my technique for space backgrounds; I'll probably be using it more in the future (maybe not for a little while lol, my hand was cramping).
